An Atlas of Healing Music

Music heals
what words cannot touch.

Long-form pieces drawn from the world’s oldest sonic traditions — duduks from Armenia, shakuhachis from Japan, koras from Mali. For deep work, deeper rest, and the hours in between.

How to listen

Thirty minutes. Nothing else to do.

Each piece runs between thirty minutes and an hour — long enough to accompany a real stretch of time. There’s no structure to follow, no payoff to wait for. Put it on, and the music does the rest.

Background

Let it play under work, reading, cooking, or a long bath. The drone holds; the melody arrives when you have room for it.

Foreground

Low lights, closed eyes, good headphones, thirty minutes uninterrupted. This is the one to try at least once per tradition.

For sleep

Phone face-down. Volume soft enough that the highs feel distant. The piece will end before you’re fully gone.

New traditions, each week.

A single long-form piece from another part of the world, every Tuesday. No ads, no notifications — just the music.

What we’re doing here

Every culture, at some point in its history, discovered that certain sounds quiet the mind. A bone flute carved in Armenia four thousand years ago. A bamboo pipe cut by Buddhist monks for walking meditation. A string harp strung over a gourd in the Senegal River basin, played for kings who couldn’t sleep.

SlowHum is a small archive of long-form pieces that draw on these traditions. Each piece is thirty minutes — long enough to accompany an afternoon, short enough to mark one. The music is played with modern tools; the forms, modes, and moods belong to the places they come from.

Inspired by traditions. Played with care.
